Pharmacogenomics and the Failing Heart

چکیده
n Samuel Beckett’s play, Waiting for Godot, the characters ait by a country roadside for a person named Godot, who ever arrives (1). Godot’s conspicuous absence throughout he play has fostered a variety of different religious, philoophical, and psychoanalytical interpretations, and has led o the use of the phrase “waiting for Godot” as an expression or waiting for someone or something that will never arrive. ver the past several years, a series of intriguing observaions has arisen with regard to the role genetic variations polymorphisms) in signaling pathways that contribute to isease progression in the failing heart (2,3). These obserations have given rise to the hope that information regardng genetic polymorphisms might be harnessed to develop ersonalized therapeutic strategies for patients with heart ailure. However, this type of genetic information has not een clinically useful thus far, insofar as many of the genetic ssociations that have been reported have not been indeendently replicated.

The effects of ginsenoside Rb1 on fatty acid β-oxidation, mediated by AMPK, in the failing heart
Objective(s): This study intended to investigate the effects of Ginsenoside-Rbl (Gs-Rbl) on fatty acid β-oxidation (FAO) in rat failing heart and to identify potential mechanisms of Gs-Rbl improving heart failure (HF) by FAO pathway dependent on AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK). Materials and Methods: Rats with chronic HF, induced by adriamycin (Adr), were randomly grouped into 7 groups. Gs-...
متن کاملA Conceptual model on the pharmacogenomics implementation complications: An applied qualitative research based on national drug policy components
Introduction: Pharmacogenomics may well have substantial effects on the clinical, economic and regulatory aspects of health sector; which can lead to complications in access. Therefore, there is a need for evidence-based frameworks based on national drug policy components. The objective of the current study is to identify pharmacogenomics-based complications and develop a conceptual model. Mate...
متن کاملTailoring therapy for heart failure: the pharmacogenomics of adrenergic receptor signaling
Heart failure is one of the leading causes of mortality in Western countries, and β-blockers are a cornerstone of its treatment. However, the response to these drugs is variable among individuals, which might be explained, at least in part, by genetic differences. Pharmacogenomics is the study of genetic contributions to drug response variability in order to provide evidence for a tailored ther...
متن کاملUsing Combined Descriptive and Predictive Methods of Data Mining for Coronary Artery Disease Prediction: a Case Study Approach
Heart disease is one of the major causes of morbidity in the world. Currently, large proportions of healthcare data are not processed properly, thus, failing to be effectively used for decision making purposes. The risk of heart disease may be predicted via investigation of heart disease risk factors coupled with data mining knowledge. This paper presents a model developed using combined descri...
متن کاملDevelopment of a Pharmacogenomics Model based on Support Vector Regression with Optimal Features Selection Approach to Determine the Initial Therapeutic Dose of Warfarin Anticoagulant Drug
Introduction: Using artificial intelligence tools in pharmacogenomics is one of the latest bioinformatics research fields. One of the most important drugs that determining its initial therapeutic dose is difficult is the anticoagulant warfarin. Warfarin is an oral anticoagulant that, due to its narrow therapeutic window and complex interrelationships of individual factors, the selection of its ...
